Sacramento County, CA – In the early hours of Wednesday, July 22, 2026, a pedestrian hit-and-run resulted in the death of a 68-year-old woman in the Parkway area, according to KCRA.
The California Highway Patrol South Sacramento division reports that the accident took place on Burdett Way at Houston Way.
Authorities said the driver of a white sedan, believed to be a 2016-2018 Nissan Altima, was traveling northbound on Burdett Way when they struck the woman while making a left turn onto Houston Way.
The vehicle then dragged her body nearly half a mile before it was found at Prentiss Drive and Hull Way. Skid marks and blood were visible along the path between the two locations.
The Sacramento County Coroner responded to remove her body from the scene. It remains unclear whether the driver and victim knew each other. The scene was cleared around 4:00 AM.
Officers continue to search for the driver of the white sedan. The identity of the deceased had not been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
