Seaside, CA – On the evening of Thursday, June 18, 2026, a suspected DUI hit-and-run left a woman injured and led to the arrest of Jovani Bello-Manzanarez, 29, according to KSBW.
The Seaside Police Department reports that the accident took place around 10:00 PM in the area of 5100 Coe Avenue.
Authorities said officers responded to reports of a woman screaming and arrived to find she had been struck and run over by a large pickup truck. She was treated at the scene for a serious leg injury before being transported to a local hospital, where she was expected to recover. The driver fled the scene before officers arrived.
Officers later located Bello-Manzanarez and his vehicle and found him to be heavily intoxicated. He was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on felony charges of driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08% or higher causing bodily injury, hit-and-run resulting in death or injury, and a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol causing bodily injury. His bail was set at $30,000.
The investigation remains ongoing.
California DUI Law
Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”
Personal Injury Claims
After a traffic accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A personal injury claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their costs of care.
