Clovis, CA – On the evening of Thursday, June 11, 2026, a suspected DUI hit-and-run resulted in the death of pedestrian Johnny Raygoza, 41, of Fresno, and led to the arrest of Francis Portillo, 45, of Clovis, according to KSEE/KGPE.
The Clovis Police Department reports that the accident took place around 10:00 PM near Barstow and Clovis Avenues.
Authorities said Raygoza was walking in the area when Portillo struck him with her vehicle. Portillo initially remained at the scene before fleeing and was arrested a short distance away.
She was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, felony hit-and-run, evading officers, and possession of a controlled substance.
Raygoza was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and died on Sunday, June 14. The coroner’s office formally identified him following his death.
