Hit-and-Run at Florin, Power Inn Rd Kills Motorcyclist in Sacramento County

Sacramento County, CA – On the evening of Monday, May 25, 2026, a hit-and-run resulted in the death of a motorcyclist in south Sacramento, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 6:29 PM at Florin Road and Power Inn Road, in front of 7894 Florin Road.

Authorities said a driver was traveling southbound on Power Inn Road before turning westbound on Florin Road. They allegedly then used a turnout to make an illegal U-turn onto eastbound Florin Road, turning directly in front of an oncoming motorcycle.

The motorcyclist broadsided the vehicle on the passenger side, and the driver fled the scene after briefly leaving their vehicle. Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. A Spanish interpreter was requested to assist with witness interviews at the scene.

The Sacramento Police Department and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office were notified and coordinated with CHP in the investigation. Surrounding agencies were also alerted in the event that the suspect vehicle was located outside the immediate area.

The suspected vehicle is described as a 2018 bright blue Nissan Maxima with chrome trim around the vehicle, damage to the passenger side, and a deployed passenger-side airbag. The vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on Power Inn Road.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the CHP South Sacramento office. The investigation remains ongoing.

California Hit-and-Run Laws

California Law requires drivers involved in a collision to stop their vehicle, notify law enforcement, and exchange insurance information with others involved. Failure to do so, considered to be a “hit-and-run,” is a misdemeanor in cases of property damage and a felony when someone has been injured.

Hit-and-Runs and Wrongful Death Claims

The compensation provided by a wrongful death claim can financially support families grieving the loss of a loved one due to another person’s negligence. These funds can go toward hospital bills, burial expenses, and help support any dependents of the deceased.

In cases where the at-fault party escapes justice, families may still be able to pursue compensation through their own uninsured driver coverage. A personal injury attorney can offer guidance on what options they may have available and negotiate with insurance companies to ensure that victims receive the best settlement possible.
