Alameda County, CA – On the evening of Thursday, May 7, 2026, a collision resulted in the death of a woman and left several others hospitalized, according to KRON, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 11:20 PM at the intersection of Vasco Road and Old Vasco Road.
Authorities said a blue Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling northbound on Vasco Road when it collided with a GMC Canyon pickup truck making a left turn from Old Vasco Road onto southbound Vasco.
The woman driving the Cobalt was found having difficulty breathing inside the vehicle, with CPR initiated at the scene by responding officers. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced dead. Multiple bystanders stopped to assist at the scene prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
The occupants of the pickup truck sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals, with their injuries reported as non-life-threatening. Unknown liquid was reported leaking from the front of one of the vehicles following the collision.
Two evidence tows were requested for the vehicles involved, which were transported to the tow yard following the conclusion of on-scene proceedings. A blood technician was also dispatched in connection with the investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Wrongful Death Claim
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling. Filing a wrongful death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses.
Personal Injury Claims
After a traffic accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A personal injury claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their costs of care.
