Martinez, CA – On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 23, 2026, a grocery store customer was injured after a vehicle crashed into the side of a Safeway, according to KRON.
The Martinez Police Department reports that the accident took place around 3:46 PM at the Safeway located at 6688 Alhambra Avenue.
Authorities said a 76-year-old woman who was attempting to park in the parking lot depressed the accelerator instead of the brake, jumped a curb, and collided with the east side of the grocery store.
The force of the collision caused an ice machine inside the store to fall and strike a 71-year-old female customer, who then fell and struck her head on the ground. The customer was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities determined the cause of the collision to be driver error and ruled out alcohol and drugs as contributing factors. The investigation remains ongoing.
Personal Injury Claims
After a traffic accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A personal injury claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their costs of care.
