Napa County, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, March 28, 2026, a suspected DUI head-on collision on Silverado Trail resulted in the deaths of three women and serious injuries to four others, according to NBC Bay Area, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 11:57 AM at 5766 Silverado Trail in Napa Valley.
Authorities said the driver of a vehicle was traveling in the oncoming lane when he sideswiped an SUV before crashing head-on into another car. The collision involved a blue Toyota Prius, a black Dodge, and a third sedan, with all vehicles sustaining major damage and coming to rest on the right shoulder. Airbags deployed across multiple vehicles, and debris was scattered across the roadway.
Three occupants of the Dodge and four occupants of the Prius were reported injured in the immediate aftermath.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office identified the three victims who lost their lives as:
- Vivian Bertolino
- Linda Wolters
- Katrina Clarke
Their ages were said to range between 62 and 65.
Four other people sustained serious injuries, including one driver, who was subsequently arrested at the hospital on suspicion of driving under the influence.
A medical helicopter landed at the scene and transported one party, and a second individual was later airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
All lanes of Silverado Trail were blocked during the investigation, with northbound lanes closed at Oak Knoll and southbound traffic diverted to Yountville Cross Road. The roadway was fully reopened at approximately 5:48 PM.
The investigation remains ongoing.
