Fresno County, CA – On the morning of Thursday, March 12, 2026, a motorcyclist Francisco Fonseca Roza, 47, of Reedley, lost his life after being struck by a vehicle, according to KSEE/KGPE, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 6:00 AM at Reed Avenue and Highway 180 near Minkler.
Authorities said the driver of a white 2018 Lexus GS350 was traveling southbound on Reed Avenue north of Annadale Avenue when the driver attempted to pass slower traffic ahead. At the same time, Roza was traveling northbound on Reed Avenue.
Evidence indicates that the Lexus struck Roza head-on during the passing maneuver, ejecting him from the motorcycle. Roza was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lexus was not injured.
Both northbound and southbound lanes of Reed Avenue were blocked following the collision. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to respond in its capacity as coroner. Two tow trucks were requested for the vehicles involved, with the white Lexus designated as an evidence vehicle and towed separately.
A hard closure was established at Reed and Annadale Avenues and at Reed Avenue and Highway 180, with Fresno County Roads assuming responsibility for managing the roadway closure.
The investigation remains ongoing.
