Fresno County, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, February 23, 2026, a motorcycle collision with a garbage truck resulted in fatal injuries to 30-year-old Evan Reed of Selma, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 1:00 PM at South Temperance Avenue and East Clemenceau Avenue.
Authorities said both Reed and the garbage truck driver were traveling northbound on Temperance Avenue at the time of the crash. Preliminary findings indicate the garbage truck began making a left turn as Reed was attempting to pass, resulting in a collision between the motorcycle and the truck.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and rendered aid. Reed was pronounced dead at the location of the collision. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office later confirmed his identity following notification of next of kin.
The driver of the garbage truck reported no injuries but was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation as a precautionary measure.
The California Highway Patrol has not released additional details. The collision remains under active investigation as authorities continue to examine evidence and determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Wrongful Death Claims
Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
