Jeana Flores, 17, Killed in Pedestrian Hit-and-Run on L Street in Antioch

Antioch, CA – In the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2026, a hit-and-run vehicle versus pedestrian collision resulted in fatal injuries to 17-year-old Jeana Flores, according to NBC Bay Area.

The Antioch Police Department reports that the accident took place around 3:33 AM near L Street between West 18th Street and West 10th Street.

Authorities said Flores was found unresponsive along the roadway, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy conducted by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office later determined that she had been struck by a vehicle, leading investigators to classify the incident as a fatal hit-and-run.

Police stated that the case was initially treated as a suspicious death until forensic examination confirmed injuries consistent with a vehicle collision. As part of standard investigative procedure, officers secured the area, documented the scene, and coordinated with the coroner’s office to determine the cause and manner of death.

Officials confirmed that Flores was not a student in the Antioch Unified School District. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are continuing efforts to identify the driver involved. Police encouraged anyone with information related to the collision to contact the Antioch Police Department to assist with the investigation.

Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims

Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, which includes being vigilant for those travelling by foot and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.

For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.

Should the at-fault driver evade authorities, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
