Lucia Jennifer Blandina Sontay Vicente, 19, Killed in Pedestrian Crash at Point San Pedro Rd, Summit Ave near San Rafael

San Rafael, CA – A 19-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a roadway Wednesday morning, January 14, 2026, according to Bay City News.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Lucia Jennifer Blandina Sontay Vicente. Authorities said the collision occurred shortly before 8:40 AM at the intersection of Point San Pedro Road and Summit Avenue, in an unincorporated area near San Rafael.

California Highway Patrol officials reported that Sontay Vicente was crossing Point San Pedro Road in a southbound direction at or near a marked crosswalk when she was struck. First responders arrived at the scene and found her unconscious.

Despite emergency response efforts, Sontay Vicente was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional medical intervention was reported prior to the pronouncement.

Investigators determined that a green 2001 Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound on Point San Pedro Road when it struck the pedestrian at the intersection. The male driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division stated that the exact cause of death and the full circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims

Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, which includes being vigilant for those travelling by foot and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.

For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.

Should the at-fault driver evade authorities, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
