Sacramento, CA – On the morning of Monday, December 29, 2025, a motorized scooter rider was killed after being struck by a vehicle on the Watt Avenue Bridge over the American River, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred at approximately 8:20 AM on northbound Watt Avenue. Investigators stated that a vehicle traveling northbound struck the scooter rider, who was traveling southbound within a northbound traffic lane.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after reports of a person down in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers located the scooter rider lying in the traffic lanes and determined the individual was not moving.
