SR-160, Tribute Way Crash Kills Pedestrian in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA – On the afternoon of Wednesday, November 19, 2025, a pedestrian was struck and killed in a collision on a Highway 160 on-ramp, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 12:35 PM along northbound State Route 160 near the Tribute Way on-ramp. Emergency responders arrived to find an adult man who had suffered fatal injuries at the scene.

Traffic logs indicate that the collision initially blocked the number one lane before crews diverted vehicles into the second lane to maintain limited flow. The roadway remained partially restricted for more than an hour while the Sacramento Fire Department, CHP officers, and Caltrans personnel managed the scene, conducted lane closures, and coordinated with the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. All lanes were fully reopened at approximately 1:52 PM.

CHP said the driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officers also stated that drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have played a role in the incident.

Authorities have not yet determined why the pedestrian was in the roadway. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity after next-of-kin notifications are completed.

Ongoing Investigations

Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.

Partial Liability in Pedestrian Accidents

California Law does not consider pedestrians to have the right-of-way under all circumstances, such as if they attempt to cross outside of a crosswalk. However, motorists are never relieved of the expectation to provide pedestrians with a Duty of Care toward their safety.

It may therefore be determined that a motorist is subject to only partial liability in a pedestrian accident. Should that be the case, they would be financially responsible for the victim’s recovery costs in proportion to their degree of liability.
