DUI Suspected in Lakeville Hwy Crash in Sonoma County

Sonoma County, CA – On the morning of Sunday, October 26, 2025, a passenger was killed and two drivers suffered major injuries in a two-vehicle crash involving suspected DUI, according to KRON, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The CHP reports that the collision occurred around 5:56 AM just south of Old Lakeville Road No. 3 on Lakeville Highway.

Preliminary investigation indicates a Ford Mustang traveling southbound appears to have crossed the double-yellow lines while attempting to pass a Toyota Highlander, colliding head-on with a northbound Honda HR-V. The impact caused the Toyota to spin off the roadway, though none of its six occupants were injured.

Authorities said the passenger in the Honda was killed at the scene. The driver of the Honda and the driver of the Mustang sustained major injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. CHP confirmed the Mustang driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Lakeville Highway was closed for more than four hours as investigators processed the scene, documented evidence, and coordinated with towing services for all involved vehicles. Officials continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash and are asking anyone with information to contact the CHP.

Ongoing Investigations

Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.

California DUI Law

Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”

Wrongful Death Claims

Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
