San Jose, CA – In the early hours of Saturday, September 20, 2025, a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle resulted in the death of Matthew Atangan, 24, of San Jose, according to Bay City News.
San Jose police reported that the crash took place at 12:19 AM near the intersection of Ocala Avenue and Ridgemont Drive.
Investigators determined that Atangan rode a 2024 Kawasaki Ninja eastbound on Ocala Avenue when he collided with a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. The Chrysler, driven by a woman, was turning left from Ridgemont Drive at the time of the crash.
Emergency crews transported Atangan to a nearby hospital. Medical staff attempted treatment, but the injuries he sustained during the collision proved fatal. He later died at the hospital.
The driver of the Chrysler received transport to a hospital for injuries that authorities described as not life-threatening. Police confirmed that she cooperated with the investigation.
No additional vehicles became involved in the crash. San Jose police continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision.
Wrongful Death Claims
Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
