Citrus Heights, CA – On the evening of Sunday, August 24, 2025, a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Fleetwood Drive killed one person, according to FOX40.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reports that firefighters received dispatch calls around 8:20 PM regarding a collision in Citrus Heights. Crews arrived within minutes and found an overturned pickup truck and a second vehicle with major damage.

Emergency personnel checked the occupants and pronounced the driver of the second vehicle dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the person’s name pending notification of the family.

Both the Citrus Heights Police Department and the California Highway Patrol remained at the site late into the night to document evidence and determine what led to the crash. Crews worked under floodlights as investigators examined skid marks, vehicle positions, and possible contributing factors.

The fatal wreck caused delays in the area as traffic control officers diverted vehicles from the busy intersection. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
