Sacramento, CA – On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 6, 2025, a pedestrian collision fatally injured Ricky Ray Reyes Jr., 19, of North Highlands, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The Sacramento Police Department reports that the accident took place around 3:15 PM at the intersection of Del Paso Road and El Centro Road in the Westlake neighborhood.
Authorities said Reyes was in the area of the intersection when he was struck by a vehicle. Fire department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced him dead shortly after their arrival.
The driver of the vehicle also sustained injuries during the collision and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Law enforcement officers stated that the driver displayed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody while still receiving care at the hospital.
A GoFundMe has been created to raise money to lay Reyes to rest.
Investigators have not released further details about the driver or the events that led to the collision. The Sacramento Police Department continues to examine the circumstances of the crash.
