West Sacramento, CA – On the night of Saturday, August 2, 2025, a pedestrian hit-and-run collision fatally injured Layla Chrissa Clemons, 17, and Jaea Chatman, 17, according to KCRA.
The West Sacramento Police Department reports that the accident took place around 9:00 PM near Jefferson Boulevard and Bevan Road.
Authorities say the two teens were struck by a vehicle while riding bicycles near the intersection. Emergency responders pronounced both victims dead at the scene. Investigators identified the driver as David Alison Walker, 71, of Fair Oaks, who allegedly fled after the crash. Officers from the Vacaville Police Department detained Walker the following day, and West Sacramento police later arrested him in connection with the fatal collision.
Layla Chrissa Clemons was reportedly returning from a family visit with her friend Jaea when the incident occurred. Her family described her as a bright young woman with aspirations to become a nurse.
Loved ones have started a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral costs and are advocating for improved street lighting in the area to prevent future tragedies.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
Wrongful Death Claims
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling. Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses.
