Citrus Heights, CA – On the night of Sunday, July 20, 2025, a vehicle versus motorcycle collision resulted in serious injuries to Colton Padjen, 31, of Citrus Heights, and his 7-year-old son, according to FOX40.
The Citrus Heights Police Department reports that the crash occurred around 8:44 PM at the intersection of Twin Oaks and Patton Avenue.
Officers and emergency medical crews responded to the scene and found Padjen and his son injured after the dirt bike they were riding was struck by a motorist. Preliminary findings indicate that Padjen failed to stop at a posted stop sign while riding northbound, leading to the collision with an oncoming vehicle.
Both father and son were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries. Authorities stated that they are expected to recover.
The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
Investigators believe alcohol played a role in the incident and announced that Padjen will face felony DUI charges. The crash remains under investigation.
California DUI Law
Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”
Passenger Liability
Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Personal Injury claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming. As a neutral third party, an experienced personal injury attorney can help to navigate these emotional complexities.
