Lebec, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, July 19, 2025, a collision involving a box truck and a big rig resulted in at least one person suffering major injuries, according to KBAK.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 4:20 PM on northbound Interstate 5 just south of the escape ramp near the Grapevine.
Authorities stated that the impact of the crash prompted the temporary closure of all northbound lanes while emergency crews responded to the scene.
Due to the severity of the injuries, an air ambulance was dispatched to transport at least one individual to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The extent of the injuries and the number of individuals involved have not yet been confirmed.
As of 6:00 PM, traffic remained heavily congested in the area, with backups stretching to Lebec School Road.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
