Daniel Aguirre, 22, Killed in Pedestrian Crash at Old River Rd, White Oak Dr in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA – On the night of Saturday, June 7, 2025, a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision resulted in the death of 22-year-old Daniel Aguirre, according to KGET.

The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 11:36 PM near Old River Road and White Oak Drive.

Authorities said Aguirre had been driving a silver Infiniti coupe when he collided with a tree in the center median on Old River Road. After exiting his vehicle, Aguirre was struck by a blue Honda sedan traveling on the roadway. Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda remained at the location and cooperated with the investigation. Police stated that impairment does not appear to have been a factor for the Honda driver.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released regarding the cause of the initial single-vehicle crash or the sequence of events leading up to the fatal collision.

Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims

Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a fatal collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.

For those who lose a loved one in a bicycle accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.

Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
