Driver Injured in Hwy 1, Division Street Crash in Nipomo, SLO County

San Luis Obispo County, CA – On the morning of Thursday, May 15, 2025, a head-on collision involving a tractor and a U-Haul resulted in major injuries to one driver, according to The San Luis Obispo Tribune.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash occurred around 8:50 AM near the intersection of Highway 1 and Division Street in the Nipomo area of San Luis Obispo County.

Emergency crews responded to the scene where the impact left one driver trapped inside their vehicle. Firefighters performed an extensive extraction before the injured individual was transported for treatment of major, but non-life-threatening, injuries. The identity of the driver has not been released.

The crash caused a small hazardous materials spill, with approximately four gallons of hydraulic fluid leaking into the soil. Authorities confirmed that the spill was contained and did not affect nearby waterways.

Traffic on Highway 1 was temporarily blocked, and vehicles were diverted onto Division Street while cleanup and investigation continued. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the CHP.

Personal Injury Claims

After a traffic accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A Personal Injury Claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their cost of care.
