May 5, 2025, Acampo, CA: One person lost their life in a fatal hit-and-run bicycle accident on a roadway in Acampo on Monday.
According to information provided by Lodi News, the collision took place at 4:30 a.m. on Jahant Road just east of Highway 99. Police confirmed that a man was riding his bicycle in the area when he was suddenly struck from behind by a passenger vehicle. Due to the force of the impact, the bicyclist was ejected from his bike and into a nearby irrigation ditch.
The bicyclist, identified as a 56-year-old man, was seriously injured in the collision. He was tragically pronounced dead on scene as a result.
The driver involved in the accident fled the scene without stopping. At this time, California Highway Patrol Stockton is searching for the involved driver. Their investigation remains ongoing.
