Fresno, CA – On the night of Friday, May 2, 2025, a two-vehicle collision caused fatal injuries to two young men identified as 18-year-old Maddux Green and 19-year-old Jordan Galvez, according to ABC30.
The authorities report that the accident took place around 11:30 PM near Shields and Clovis Avenues.
Police say 29-year-old Jagat Singh is suspected to have been driving under the influence when he collided with another vehicle carrying two male passengers. One of the victims died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, while the second was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead early Saturday morning.
On Sunday, family members identified the deceased. Both were residents of Fresno and known to be close friends.
According to authorities, Singh showed signs of intoxication at the scene and has a prior DUI conviction. He was taken into custody and booked into Fresno County Jail on multiple charges.
In the aftermath of the crash, members of the community placed flowers and candles along Clovis Avenue to honor the memory of Green and Galvez. The location has since become a gathering point for loved ones and friends, who plan to hold a vigil in the coming days.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the Galvez family with funeral and memorial expenses. Authorities have not released further details regarding court proceedings at this time.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision, including reviewing surveillance footage and conducting toxicology tests.
California DUI Law
Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”
Wrongful Death Claims
Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
