April 20, 2025, Manteca, CA: On Sunday night, a man tragically lost his life in an e-scooter accident on a roadway in Manteca.
The accident, according to information provided by KCRA, happened at 8:21 p.m. at 200 Airport Way around the area of Yosemite Avenue. Police confirmed that a male resident from Manteca started to cross the road on his e-scooter when he was suddenly struck by a vehicle headed northbound. His brother and daughter were also on e-scooters and about to cross the same street at the time of the accident.
The male e-scooter rider was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries but he was tragically pronounced dead while there. The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 46-year-old, stayed on scene and was not hurt.
No further details have been released. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision.
