April 16, 2025, Arvin, CA: On Wednesday night, a fatal big rig accident took place on a roadway in Arvin that took one life and injured another.
The accident, according to Bakersfield Now, happened at 7:45 p.m. on Bear Mountain Boulevard just west of General Beale Road. Police confirmed that a driver was traveling westbound in a 2004 Honda sedan when they were involved in a collision with a 2014 Volvo semi-truck with a trailer attached. The two vehicles collided head-on due to reasons that are still being investigated.
The driver of the Honda, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead on scene due to their injuries. One passenger in the Honda received major injuries and was hospitalized. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for four hours following the accident.
Police continue to investigate the collision at this time.
