Clovis, CA – Agamjodh Singh Cheema, a 13-year-old from Clovis, has been identified as the young bicyclist killed in a collision with a motor vehicle on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, according to The Fresno Bee, with additional reporting from ABC30.
The Clovis Police Department reports that the accident took place around 5:30 PM near Bullard Avenue, west of Temperance Avenue, between Pistachio and Arroyo avenues.
Authorities said Cheema was riding a mountain-style bicycle westbound on Bullard Avenue when he collided with a Toyota Camry driven by a woman also traveling westbound. The circumstances leading to the impact remain under investigation. Cheema sustained extensive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the location and cooperated with the investigation. Officials stated that neither impairment nor distracted driving appears to have contributed to the collision.
Bullard Avenue was temporarily closed between Armstrong and Temperance avenues while investigators conducted a collision reconstruction and collected witness accounts.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office confirmed Cheema’s identity on Wednesday. He was an eighth-grade student at Clark Intermediate School and previously attended Cedarwood Elementary.
Clovis Unified School District released a statement describing him as a high-achieving student active in honors classes, as well as a member of the school’s wrestling, football, and volleyball teams. Support teams were deployed to both campuses to assist students and staff in coping with the loss.
A GoFundMe page has been established to assist Cheema’s family during this time.
According to Clovis police, the city has recorded 43 vehicle-versus-bicycle crashes over the past year, with 29 resulting in injuries. This incident marks the first fatality.
Wrongful Death Claims
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling. Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses.
Duty of Care Toward Bicyclists
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards bicyclists, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim to ensure they get proper medical treatment and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
