Tragic Hwy 49, Yuba Pass Crash Injures 3, Kills Dog in Sierra County

Sierra County, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, March 31, 2025, a two-vehicle crash on Highway 49 left three people seriously injured and resulted in the death of a family dog, according to CBS13.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:30 PM on Highway 49 near Yuba Pass.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a sedan heading downhill failed to navigate a right turn, causing it to slide into oncoming traffic and collide with a pickup truck traveling uphill.

Emergency responders arrived and found three individuals inside the sedan with severe injuries. All three were transported to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not been updated, and their identities have not been released.

The occupants of the pickup truck escaped major injuries. Tragically, a dog inside the pickup truck was critically injured and died shortly after the crash.

Authorities have not disclosed whether road conditions or driver impairment contributed to the accident. The crash remains under investigation.

Personal Injury Claims

When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a Personal Injury Claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
