Bakersfield, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, March 19, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision on Wilson Road led to the hospitalization of 75-year-old Leland Wayne Ramsey of Bakersfield, who later died from his injuries, according to the KBAK.
The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the crash occurred around 7:30 AM near Wilson Road and Hughes Lane.
When officers arrived, they found three vehicles involved in a chain-reaction rear-end collision. Investigators determined that a vehicle approaching the intersection failed to stop in time and struck another vehicle from behind, which in turn collided with a third vehicle in front of it. Ramsey, the driver of the middle vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Ramsey remained under medical care for several days before succumbing to his injuries on March 22. The Kern County Coroner’s Office officially identified him and confirmed his passing.
Authorities have not released details regarding the drivers of the other vehicles involved but stated that all individuals remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Bakersfield police said no arrests have been made in connection with the crash, and there is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role.
The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Bakersfield Police Department.
