Crash with School Bus near West Ripon, Alice Rd Injures Young Students, Teen Driver in Manteca

Manteca, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, March 18, 2025, a 17-year-old driver and three young students sustained injuries after a pickup truck crashed into a school bus in San Joaquin County, according to ABC10.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash occurred around 7:17 AM on West Ripon Road near Alice Road.

Authorities stated that a Ripon Unified School District bus had stopped to pick up students with its red lights flashing and stop sign deployed. As the bus driver exited the vehicle holding a handheld stop sign, a 17-year-old girl driving a pickup truck at approximately 55 mph failed to stop and rear-ended the bus.

The bus was carrying 34 students at the time of the crash. Three students suffered minor injuries, but none required hospitalization. The teen driver of the pickup truck sustained major injuries that were considered non-life-threatening, according to officials.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

Failure to Yield

In California, as in other states, “failure to yield” means that you didn’t give the right of way to the right person at the right time. As such, failure to yield or stop is closely related to the “right of way.” When a motorist fails to yield, stop or otherwise avoid an accident and causes a crash, he or she can be held liable for injuries and damages suffered by a victim.

Personal Injury Claims

When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a Personal Injury Claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
