Fresno County, CA – In the early hours of Friday, March 7, 2025, an 18-year-old driver identified as Daniel Avila of Caruthers was killed in a two-vehicle collision, according to The Fresno Bee.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 12:00 AM at the intersection of West Kamm and South Brawley Avenues in Caruthers. Avila’s identity was confirmed by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities said Avila was driving a Ford truck westbound on Kamm Avenue when he collided with an eastbound big rig near the center of the roadway. The impact left Avila with severe injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the big rig was not injured in the crash.
Investigators believe Avila’s truck may have had a dash cam, which could provide further insight into the cause of the crash. They are also awaiting toxicology results as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not stated whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the collision. The CHP continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
Wrongful Death Claims
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling. Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses.
