February 10, 2025, Hayward, CA: A pedestrian lost their life in a serious accident that took place at an intersection in Hayward on Monday morning.
The accident, according to information provided by the Hayward Police Department, took place at 7:53 a.m. at the intersection of Tennyson Road and Calaroga Avenue. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking in the area when they were suddenly struck by the driver of a passenger vehicle. The driver remained on scene following the crash.
The pedestrian, identified as a 26-year-old female resident of Hayward, sustained major injuries as a result of the accident. She was rushed to a local hospital but tragically pronounced deceased while there. The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 36-year-old male, was rushed to the hospital with injuries as well. He has since been placed on a mental health hold.
No further details have been released but Alameda County officials continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
