February 3, 2025, Monterey, CA: A man lost his life in a suspected DUI crash that took place on Saturday evening in Monterey.
The accident, according to information provided by KSBW, happened around 5:06 p.m. on Fairgrounds Road just west of Casa Verde Way. Police confirmed that a man was walking to his Honda CR-V that was located on a parking space alongside the road. At the time, a driver in a white Jaguar F-Pace was driving through the area and headed in the wrong direction.
The Jaguar slammed into the parked Honda head-on, pushing it into its owner as the driver was getting inside the Honda. The driver of the Honda was rushed to Natividad Medical Center but tragically passed away due to his injuries while there.
The driver of the Jaguar, identified as a 24-year-old man from Monterey, was arrested for charges of driving under the influence, causing great bodily injury, possession of a controlled substance, and violation of his parole. He may also be facing a charge of vehicular manslaughter.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident at this time.
