San Jose does not have a good reputation for pedestrian safety. Hundreds of people are struck and hurt each year.
Many have their lives placed at risk by careless drivers and streets and intersections that aren’t designed with pedestrian safety in mind. Recent pedestrian accident figures show how much San Jose can improve in the care shown towards those who travel on foot.
The California Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS) recorded 257 San Jose pedestrian accidents involving injury or a fatality in 2021. That number jumped in 2022. The year saw 281 pedestrian accidents involving serious injury or death.

Support for Families After a San Jose Pedestrian Accident
Families who have lost a loved one in a traffic accident are encouraged to file a wrongful death claim as soon as possible. This civil claim targets an at-fault driver’s auto insurance provider.
It seeks economic assistance for the family with the costs of burial and any remaining emergency response fees stemming from an accident. A wrongful death lawsuit should also recover money to protect the family’s financial future when the guidance and monetary support the deceased would have provided is no longer available.
