San Francisco, CA — On the morning of Saturday, October 24, 2026, a hit-and-run collision resulted in the death of a man on a motorized scooter, leading to the arrest of 39-year-old suspect Daniel Llama, according to KRON.
Around 5:08 AM, the San Francisco Police Department responded to reports of the accident near Franklin and Pine streets in San Francisco’s Lower Pacific Heights area.
Emergency responders discovered a male victim with life-threatening injuries at the crash site. However, the vehicle involved had fled the scene. Investigators searched the area for the suspect vehicle, but were unable to find it during initial investigations.
The victim received transportation to a nearby hospital where, despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries.
Llama’s car was later identified and located in San Rafael, thanks to the efforts of the SFPD Traffic Collision Investigation Unit. On Thursday, October 29, Llama was arrested and his vehicle towed. He was booked at the San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of a hit-and-run collision resulting in death and vehicular manslaughter.
The SFPD asks anyone with additional information regarding this fatal accident to please come forward. This is an ongoing investigation.
California Hit-and-Runs and Wrongful Death Claims
If Llama is confirmed as the driver involved in the death of the motorized scooter rider, the victim’s family may then have grounds for a wrongful death claim against him. A wrongful death claim can provide compensation for damages such as funeral expenses and the loss of support and companionship provided by the deceased.
Due to the flagrant disregard for the victim’s well-being shown by leaving the crash site without rendering aid, an attorney may also be able to help the victim’s family seek punitive damages as well.
