Sacramento Fatal Pedestrian Accidents and Wrongful Death Claims
California law requires drivers involved in pedestrian accidents to remain with victims, help them find immediate medical attention if possible, and cooperate with law enforcement. Failure to do so is considered a “hit-and-run,” which can be charged as a felony in cases of injury or death.
If the driver involved in this crash is identified, Spears’ family may have the grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim, regardless of the outcome of any criminal proceedings. A wrongful death claim can provide compensation for funeral expenses and the loss of support and companionship the victim had provided.
Should the driver involved escape justice, there may still be other avenues of compensation available, which a wrongful death lawyer can help the grieving family explore.
