Placer County, CA — On the morning of Tuesday, October 27, 2026, one person was hospitalized with major injuries after a collision between a car and a pickup truck, according to FOX40.
At approximately 10:45 AM, the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of West Wise and Gladding roads in a rural area north of Lincoln, near the Triple Crown Equestrian Center.
Officers arriving at the crash site discovered a Chevrolet 2500 flatbed truck, which had been carrying hay bales, and a Toyota Camry. The two vehicles appeared to have been in a “serious” collision.
Emergency responders provided the Camry driver with transportation to a nearby hospital for treatment of major injuries.
According to investigators, the Camry collided with the Chevrolet, causing the pickup to overturn and hay bales to tumble across the road.
CHP closed Wise Road to facilitate investigations and allow the accident site to be cleared. It has reopened since.
No further details have been released regarding the identities of the drivers involved or what may have led to the accident. This is an ongoing investigation.
Car Accidents in Placer County and Personal Injury Claims
California law operates under the legal principle of comparative negligence, which holds that liability for an accident can be shared among multiple parties. This means fault is not an all-or-nothing proposition.
It may be found that negligence from the pickup truck driver shares responsibility for the crash. The Camry driver might then have grounds for a personal injury claim, which can provide compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages. If the injured party also bears some responsibility, any settlement may be reduced, but that would not prevent them from receiving partial compensation.
