Kings County, CA — On the morning of Thursday, October 15, 2026, a crash near NAS Lemoore resulted in one driver losing their life and another being hospitalized, according to ABC30, with additional details from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol first received reports of a crash between a white Kia Soul and a black Chevrolet Camaro at 6:27 AM on State Route 198 at Enterprise Avenue.
According to CHP investigators, the Chevrolet was struck by the Kia Soul while the driver was exiting the air base and turning onto the highway. Officers stated that the Kia driver might have run a red light.
While the Kia driver was reported as being able to exit their vehicle without assistance, the Chevrolet driver remained unresponsive. Emergency responders transported the driver of the Kia to a Fresno hospital. The Chevrolet driver was declared dead at the scene.
CHP accident logs show one vehicle came to rest in the median and another in the westbound lanes, and a “Do Not Enter” or “Wrong Way” sign was knocked down. All lanes had reopened by 9:04 AM.
