Kings County, CA – In the early hours of Friday, September 25, 2026, a single-vehicle collision in which DUI is suspected left two people seriously injured after their overturned car was struck by a train, according to KSEE/KGPE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 4:50 AM on the railroad tracks near Avenue 112 and Angiola Drive, a rural agricultural area of Kings County.
Authorities said the driver veered off the roadway and overturned, coming to rest on the railroad tracks. He had reportedly already sustained serious injuries before an oncoming train struck the car, although it remains unclear whether he was still inside the vehicle at the time of the impact. However, his passenger was inside the car when it was struck by the train and sustained major injuries.
CHP said alcohol and drugs appear to have contributed to the crash, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is encouraged to contact the CHP Visalia Area office.
