Santa Cruz County, CA — On the morning of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, a collision between a pickup truck and motorcycle resulted in the death of Connor Wildey, 23, of Scotts Valley, according to KSBW.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:01 AM at Corralitos Road and Merk Road, a rural roadway connecting Corralitos to Watsonville.
According to authorities, a 61-year-old Watsonville man was driving a 2000 GMC pickup northbound on Corralitos Road. For reasons still unknown, when the pickup attempted a left turn onto Merk Road, it collided with Wildey, who was travelling southbound on a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle.
Emergency responders transported Wildey to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office provided official identification.
CHP is examining the circumstances leading to this fatal crash. The speed of both vehicles at the time of collision has not yet been determined. Neither Wildey nor the pickup driver appear to have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The investigation is still ongoing.
