Taft, CA – On the morning of Wednesday, September 2, 2026, a collision between a bucket truck and an electric bicycle resulted in a man losing his life, according to KGET.
The Taft Police Department reports that the accident took place around 10:47 AM at Kern and Tenth Streets.
Authorities said a man driving a utility bucket truck eastbound on Kern Street had stopped for a red light at Tenth Street while another man riding an electric bike traveled eastbound on the south sidewalk of Kern Street, approaching the same intersection.
As the truck began making a right turn onto Tenth Street, it reportedly collided with the bicycle. As a result of the impact, the bicyclist was ejected and died at the scene.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors in the crash. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information is encouraged to contact the Taft Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
