Coalinga, CA – On the morning of Wednesday, September 9, 2026, a head-on collision resulted in a truck overturning and left two people injured, according to KSEE/KGPE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 11:30 AM on Highway 33, an agricultural corridor connecting to Highway 198 and Coalinga-Mendota Road.
Authorities said the driver of a white Acura crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck tractor hauling two gravel trailers. The truck and trailers overturned, spilling gravel and diesel fuel across the roadway. The driver of the Acura was airlifted to the hospital with major injuries, while the truck driver sustained minor injuries. Investigators said neither party’s injuries appear to be life-threatening.
Highway 33 remained closed at Highway 198 and Coalinga-Mendota Road with no estimated time for reopening at the time of reporting. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
