San Joaquin County, CA – On the evening of Wednesday, September 2, 2026, a head-on collision resulted in the death of a pickup truck driver, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 6:16 PM near Mariposa and Van Allen Roads outside Stockton.
Authorities said a tan Dodge Dakota pickup truck and a black Honda CR-V collided head-on, with both vehicles coming to rest in the eastbound lanes. As a result of the impact, the pickup truck driver was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Honda sustained major front-end damage.
Both lanes were blocked during the response. The Stockton Fire Department responded to the scene. The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner was notified and responded. Two evidence tows were requested for the CR-V and the pickup truck, which was towing a trailer. The roadway was reopened at approximately 9:05 PM.
It remains unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. The identity of the deceased had not been released at the time of reporting.
