Fresno, CA – On the evening of Friday, September 25, 2026, a hit-and-run in which DUI is suspected left a man injured in the Tower District and led to the arrest of Steven Jones, 36, according to KSEE/KGPE.
The Fresno Police Department reports that the accident took place near India’s Oven restaurant in the Tower District.
Authorities said the victim had left the restaurant without paying, and a security guard chased after him. Jones, driving a white Toyota Tacoma, struck the man and fled the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Using automated license plate readers, officers located Jones near North First Street and East Hammond Avenue. Jones approached officers and admitted to being the driver involved in the collision.
Officers conducted DUI testing and determined he was driving under the influence. He was cited for DUI and booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
