September 1, 2026, Fresno, CA: Deputies were injured in a collision involving a wrong-way driver at a Fresno intersection on Tuesday afternoon.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the accident took place around 5:10 p.m. Two officers were sitting in a single patrol vehicle when they saw a driver headed in the wrong direction on M Street. They chased down the driver but at the intersection of M Street and Stanislaus Street, the patrol vehicle was struck by a FAX bus. The patrol vehicle sustained heavy front-end damages. The wrong-way driver fled the scene and was not found.
EMS and other officers responded to the scene. The deputies both sustained injuries in the accident. They, as well as seven passengers on the bus, were taken to the hospital. All parties are currently healing, though their conditions remain unknown.
No further details have been released at this time. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
