Fresno, CA – On the afternoon of Thursday, September 3, 2026, a two-vehicle collision involving a truck owned by Fresno’s Poverello House resulted in a downed power pole and left a driver injured, according to KSEE/KGPE.
The Fresno Police Department reports that the accident took place around 1:30 PM in the area of Shields and Sierra Vista Avenues.
Authorities said that the Poverello House truck was pulling a trailer owned by the City of Fresno as it was traveling westbound on Shields Avenue when a sedan, traveling in the opposite direction, attempted to turn left in front of it. The truck driver reportedly attempted to steer around the sedan but lost control, striking a power pole.
As a result of the impact, the sedan’s driver, described as an older woman, had to be extricated from her vehicle and was treated for a possible broken ankle before being transported to the hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured.
A crew later arrived to repair the downed power pole. The investigation remains ongoing.
Fresno Truck Accidents and Personal Injury Claims
After an accident such as this, investigators with local law enforcement examine evidence at the crash site to determine what factors may have led to the accident. Any driver found to have been negligent in their duty of care toward those they share the road with may be found liable for the injuries of those involved.
If the Poverello House truck was driving in his professional capacity at the time of the accident, liability could extend beyond his personal actions and possibly include his employer and those responsible for the maintenance of the vehicle.
The woman injured in this collision may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim, which can provide compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages related to the accident.
