East Palo Alto, CA — On the morning of Tuesday, September 29, 2026, a multi-vehicle collision resulted in the injury of two people, identified as Bobby McGee, 69, of Menlo Park, and Carolyn Cupil, 63, of Belmont, according to KRON.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and East Palo Alto Police Department report that the accident took place around 8:20 AM at Bay Road and University Avenue.
According to authorities, McGee was driving a minivan which, for reasons unknown, struck six other vehicles before coming to rest on Bay Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Cupil, his passenger, sustained life-threatening injuries, and emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds.
Three others were also injured in this collision. Its cause is still unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
