Sacramento County, CA – On the morning of Sunday, September 27, 2026, a head-on collision resulted in the death of Ajani Everhart, 21, of Sacramento, and left two others injured, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol’s South Sacramento division reports that the accident took place around 5:30 AM on State Route 160 near Sherman Island Cross Road.
Authorities said Everhart was driving a Kia Forte northbound on State Route 160 when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a Ford F-250 pickup truck hauling a utility trailer. Everhart died as a result of the crash.
The two occupants of the pickup truck were transported to NorthBay Medical Center with injuries. Solano Fire Department responded to the scene, along with a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office chaplain.
Solano County traffic was turned around, with both directions of State Route 160 blocked during the response. Caltrans set up a closure for northbound traffic just south of the Antioch Bridge. Two evidence tows were requested for the vehicles involved, including the Kia and the Ford F-250 with its utility trailer.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was notified. State Route 160 was closed at Sherman Island Cross Road for several hours before reopening at approximately 9:40 AM. It is currently unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
