Bakersfield, CA – On the evening of Friday, August 7, 2026, a single-vehicle motorcycle collision resulted in the death of Daryl Hicks, 58, of Bakersfield, according to KBAK.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 8:36 PM on westbound Highway 178 at Highway 204.
Authorities said Hicks was riding a motorcycle when he collided with construction barrels in the roadway. He was transported to Kern Medical, where he died the following day. The Kern County Coroner’s Office formally identified him following his death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
