Madera County, CA – On the morning of Friday, July 31, 2026, a two-vehicle collision resulted in the death of a 21-year-old Madera man, according to KSEE/KGPE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 6:00 AM at the intersection of Road 16 and Avenue 14.
Authorities said the 21-year-old was driving a 2002 Pontiac Firebird southbound on Road 16, which is controlled by stop signs at the intersection, while a 57-year-old man was driving a 2019 Lincoln Navigator westbound on Avenue 14, which has the right of way.
The Pontiac driver failed to yield and entered the intersection, where the front of the Lincoln struck the left side of the Pontiac. Both vehicles came to a stop in a nearby cornfield. The Pontiac driver was transported to a hospital, where he later died from major injuries. The Lincoln driver was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The investigation remains ongoing.
